The Coordinator of the “Zanmi Timoun” Foundation, Guylande MESADIEU is included on the list of 3 people nominated for the 2019 Children of the World Prize, we have learned. Ashok DYALCHAND from India (Asia) and Spès NIHANGAZA from Burundi (Africa) are the other two winners of this award.

This World Children’s Prize is awarded each year by the World Children’s Prize Foundation, a Swedish organization. The award ceremony will take place this Thursday, May 9, 2019, in the town of Mariefred, near Stoklhom, the Swedish capital, in the presence of Her Majesty Queen Sylvia.

Guylande Mesadieu, Ashok DYALCHAND and Spès NIHANGAZA were chosen by children who are part of the program using a vote in more than 700 primary schools in different parts of the world.

According to Zanmi Timoun, the World Children’s Prize is a global program that trains and raises awareness among children in the defense of equal rights, children’s rights and democracy. Since 2002, according to the organization, this program has taken place annually in schools where it has already reached more than 42 million children around the world. In addition, it is sponsored by personalities who campaign for peace and children’s rights such as the late Nelson Mandela and Her Majesty Queen Sylvia of Sweden.

“Being nominated for the World’s Children’s Prize represents a big step in the work that the Foundation does for children. This appointment is also the result of years of collaboration with the organization’s various partners, thanks to which it has been able to carry out concrete actions for the well-being of children,” confirms Zanmi Timoun.

Note that Zanmi Timoun, a non-profit organization promoting and defending children’s rights, recognized by the Haitian authorities via the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor (MAST), was founded on February 13, 2001.
